“This time of year there is a double bounty, with summer produce and fall produce available,” said Alex Webster, who is the Farmers’ Market Manager in addition to running Alex’s Picnic. “Local Foods Local Spirits celebrates the Cooperstown Farmer’s Market as a vital community resource and gathering place.” Webster is a chef who had popular restaurants in Cooperstown and Cherry Valley.

“Good chefs appreciate the importance of local food and supporting small farmers,” said Ellen Pope, executive director of Otsego 2000, which founded the Farmers’ Market in 1991. “We are very grateful to the wonderful chefs for lending their time and talent to this key fundraiser for the Farmers’ Market.” She noted that last year’s Local Foods event sold out in advance.

Chefs will create their dishes using ingredients from Market vendors, including Arabeth Farm, Black Willow Pond Farm, Byebrook Farm, Chatty Wren Coffee Roasters, Cooperstown Maple Works, Empire Natural Foods, Gaia’s Breath Farm, Heller’s Farm, Middlefield Orchard, Mill Hollow Maple, Mountain View Dairy, Nectar Hills Farm, Pail Shop Vineyards, Painted Goat Farm, RevSpirits, Rock Hill Farm, Straight from the Hive, and Uncommon Kin Cidery.

The local band Fast Friends will perform and there will be a raffle of artisan-made crafts, home goods, skincare, art, and other items you can find at the Market.

Tickets are $50 each and available at online, by calling 607-547-8881, or at the Cooperstown Farmers’ Market every Saturday from 9 to 2. All proceeds benefit the Cooperstown Farmers’ Market, which is open year-round on Saturdays.
