The Cooperstown Farmers’ Market connects farmers and artisans with customers looking for healthy local food and crafts. A Saturday ritual for many, the Market is a welcoming place of community that draws people to Main Street and promotes local farmers and entrepreneurs.

Otsego Outdoors highlights and celebrates the many places to hike, paddle, bike, and enjoy the natural beauty of Otsego County. With new trails and new Octet challenges, this program encourages people to explore the County’s forests, parks, waterways, and trails. A collaborative effort managed by Otsego 2000 with the Otsego Land Trust, the Butternut Valley Alliance and the Otsego County Conservation Association.

Environmental Stewardship is a key role of Otsego 2000. Its nimble use of grassroots advocacy, lobbying, collaboration, skilled legal counsel, and public education led to a landmark statewide ban on fracking. When threats to the region arise, Otsego 2000 is a first responder: assessing the risks, taking action, and offering solutions.

Historic Preservation is a way to ensure the landscape first made famous by novelist James Fenimore Cooper endures. Otsego 2000 provides technical assistance to people who own historic homes and businesses so they can benefit from New York State tax credits. We also help people who own historic barns understand and apply for NYS Historic Barn Rehabilitation Tax Credit. These initiatives help homeowners and barn owners, and also bring more dollars into the County and more work for local contractors and tradespeople. We also shepherd communities through the process of being listed on the State and National Registers of Historic Preservation.

Glimmerglass Film Days, a film festival held each November in Cooperstown, sparks conversations about humanity’s relationship with the natural world. With a curated slate of independent films, filmmaker talks, receptions, and art, Film Days has become a much-anticipated annual event for residents and visitors alike.
