SPICED TURNIPS
Spiced Turnips

Ingredients
2 tablespoons mustard seeds
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
3 apples peeled and diced , to yield 4 cups
2 large turnips peeled and diced to yield 4 cups
3 tablespoons oil plain
3 tablespoons maple syrup or honey
1 tablespoon parsley
salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, toast the mustard seeds until they start to pop.
Add the coriander and allspice.
Remove from the pan and set aside.
To the same hot pan, add half of the oil. Add the apples and cook until they begin to caramelize.
Remove from the pan and add to the mustard seeds.
To that same hot pan, add remaining oil and turnips. Cook, covered for about 5 minutes or until tender.
To the turnip pan, add the maple syrup and cook for a few minutes more.
Return all the other ingredients to the pan and add the parsley. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
